I felt heat the way I’ve never felt it—an exhausting wet density that thickened us together. I saw blackness on a scale I’ve never seen it—so deep and vast and enterprising. I saw whiteness the way I’ve always seen it—savorless and metastatic.

And I thought of travel the way I’ve never thought of it before—felt a singularity of a city I’ve never felt before. And while I have too many words to condense right now, I just want to thank New Orleans for what it gives, and for what it inspired.
