Throughout this project, I’ve collected bean seeds from farmers and collectors from all over the country. Farmers, seed collectors, food writers, environmental advocates, and land stewards educate and encourage us to protect natural resources while expanding our knowledge and understanding of the diversity available to us beyond the supermarket.

Political motivations, regionality, and socioeconomic position shape our knowledge and understanding of both our bodily health and our foodways, as well as how we perceive the world around us. Yet, too many of us miss out on the richness of Earth's biodiversity due to access, and a disconnection from the natural world. The Bean Print, printed on “linen” textured lustre paper, is my way of sharing the bounty of my curiosity over the past year and celebrating the richness of Earth’s imagination through my chosen medium: art.
